Merchant 911 enjoys growth spurt --- Thursday, May 23, 2002

Merchant 911, an organization dedicated to e-commerce fraud prevention for merchants, experienced a 100% growth rate in the first 4 months of 2002 over their 2001 membership.

"It's becoming obvious," says Tom Mahoney, the organization's Founder and Director, "That merchants have declared war on scam artists and the credit card industry that passes all fraud losses on to the merchant without recourse."

Merchant 911 will not release membership information but, according to Mahoney, the numbers are significant. Compared to the estimated number of e-commerce merchants "We're probably small, but when this mouse is ready to roar, the industry will listen. "
