Merchant911 News --- Saturday, March 1, 2008

A lot has happened at Merchant911 in the past few months.

We changed hosts. Changing hosting companies turned out to be even more of a nightmare than we thought it would be, but the task is complete thanks to the efforts of a few dedicated members. We think the change will be for the better.

Merchant911 now has an active blog It's actually been out there since 2006 but it's now hosted right on our site. This allows for more flexibility in content, keeps everything together, and just generally makes it easier to deal with. The search engines like it that way too.

We've added some Google ads to generate a little revenue. Hopefully you'll find a product or service that might be of value to you. Of course, the member area is still ad-free. Always has been - always will be.

We're getting ready to accept YOUR advertising too! We have the software in place and we're currently running a few test ads to make sure that statistical reporting is working properly. Once we're convinced that all is in order and decide on pricing on a niche site with a Google PR of 5, advertisers can start their campaigns. If you think you might want to advertise on the Merchant911 pages, drop us a note at ads@merchant911.org. Once we have the details, you'll have first crack at the spaces. Although this isn't cast in stone yet, we expect that our members will have special rates.

We'll be making a lot of other changes too. Content for merchants will be expanded and you can expect to see some fraud prevention content for cardholders in a separate section. Inside the member area, there's a lot going on too. We've already set up the ipGeo lookup database to refresh weekly so that our members have the latest information. We're looking at a couple of solutions to provide real-time proxy data, and the other databases will get an upgrade as well. We've also set up a new download section in the member area. All of the content is currently free, but some fee-based downloads of white papers and fraud reports will be coming soon.

And finally, once we have content updated, there may be a new look and feel too. Why not - it's time after 7 successful years.
