If you are an eBay seller with a merchant account, there’s something that you need to know. According to an article posted in Auction Bytes the Payflow gateway for eBay sellers does not offer the same fraud protection as the Payflow gateway used by PayPal.
I’m not an eBay seller nor am I familiar with how they do things so I can’t analyze this yet but clearly, it’s worth a mention. Apparently CVC and AVS are not a part of eBay’s Payflow service although they will be, “By the end of June.”
Speculation is that the eBay gateway, or something in the eBay process, is not PCI compliant and PayPal would risk their own compliance if they connected to the eBay system. That seems like a logical explanation although I wouldn’t think that eBay is not compliant.
If any of my readers can provide any additional information on this, please post in the comments.
