Credit Card Fees Over Fraud Prevention

In a recent article in StoreFront BackTalk, Evan Schuman reports on the results of an August 2007 survey. The survey provides ample evidence that the credit card companies – and the banks – prefer fees over features.

The credit card companies are pushing consumers toward signature based credit and debit cards because they charge higher fees. Consumers, on the other hand, are leaning very much toward the more secure PIN options.

This certainly doesn’t surprise me and I suspect the 3600+ members of Merchant911 would agree with me.
